ASUS GX700

Key components
  • * An overclockable processor. Historically, gaming laptops typically don't let you overclock their components, but the ROG GX700 has a 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7-6820HK, one of the first mobile CPUs that you can overclock. It also happens to be one of the latest Intel Skylakeprocessors.

  • * Up to 64GB of DDR4 memory. Obviously, that's a lot.

  • * An Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 graphics chip with 8GB of GDDR5 memory. Not a GTX 980M mobile graphics processor--this laptop has the same graphics chip you find inside one of the most powerful desktop graphics cards that gamers are currently buying to place inside their PCs.

  • * A 1080p or even a 4K-resolution G-Sync display, like the one we recently enjoyed using in theAsus G751 gaming laptop. G-Sync tries to smooth out the picture quality during gaming by reducing screen stutter and tearing.

  • * The piece de resistance: a giant external water-cooling system which actually   pipes liquid coolant through the guts of this laptop to help cool those components down.

EVGA SC17

This 17-inch gaming notebook comes with an Intel Core i7 6820HK, a GeForce GTX 980M (not a real GTX 980 asNVIDIA announced it?), 16GB of DDR4 memory, two 128GB Samsung SSDs and a 4K display (3840×2160).

Prime World: Defenders 2 launched on Android

The popular tower defense game, Prime World: Defenders has finally seen its sequel launch on Android. Prime World: Defenders 2 picks up where the original left off, packing monsters, runes, spells and battle in a frenzy of TD action. For those that don’t know, Nival game studio’s twist on the familiar tower defense genre is the addition of an in-game collectible card game.
With 29 bosses, 40 towers and 20 spells with which to win those towers, Prime World: Defenders 2 isn’t short on action either. The collectible cards come into play as the towers and spells that you acquire along the way.

There’s 47 different achievements to unlock and everything is tied into Google Play Games. When you win a level you’ll be granted coins and, as you probably guessed, there are in-app purchases to jump start your progression. Fortunately, pay-walls don’t interfere with the gameplay, which moves along at a nice pace without having to fork over any additional dough.

Razer’s Stargazer webcam is perfect for game streamers and Windows 10

Standalone webcams aren’t exactly exciting anymore, but Razer’s is a little unique. While Intel sells a developer kit for its RealSense 3D camera, Razer is bringing the technology to the masses with its Stargazer webcam.

It has three main tricks, and they’re perfect for streamers, gamers, and Windows 10 users. If you’re a regular user of Twitch then you’ll see a lot of streamers using green screens to remove their background surroundings. It’s a popular trick, but the Razer Stargazer will do it automatically thanks to the camera and software. It also records at 60fps, something that will definitely appeal to streamers.

RAZER'S WEBCAM USES INTEL REALSENSE

The second primary feature is a little more gimmicky. Razer is using the RealSense camera to enable gestures for games. We’ve seen this before with Kinect, but Razer’s approach seems to be designed to simply launch games with gestures or play titles that track facial expressions. That’s pretty basic, but you could imagine a future where you make a gesture to swap your load out in a game quickly or something that might save a little time.

Origin PC's new Omni all-in-one gaming pc

The Omni from Origin PC combines that boutique PC company's extreme customization options and build flexibility with a big-screen all-in-one body, highlighted by a 3,440x1,440-pixel, 34-inch curved display. The base unit is an off-the-shelf chassis, and like many gaming PC builders, Origin PC takes that third-party unit and customizes it with its own components, tweaks and software to create something unique.
The Omni supports up to an Intel Core i7 5960X processor, liquid cooling, and can fit a new Nvidia Titan X desktop graphics card. That's all especially noteworthy because these are parts you pretty much never see in an all-in-one desktop. The back cover comes off, allowing you access to the motherboard so components can be swapped out for future upgrades -- another feature rarely seen in all-in-one desktops.
Sitting in front of the system, the huge 34-inch screen wraps subtly around you. Curved screens on big TVs are a gimmick, offering a great view to only the person sitting dead center. But on a smaller computer monitor level, adding a curved display immediately makes everything, including PC gaming, more immediate and immersive.
The Omni is coming sometime in the first quarter of 2016, There's no price yet.
It also has one especially clever feature for the space-challenged. The rubber feet under the chassis are attached magnetically, so you can simply pop them off and move them to any other side of the metal box, allowing for an easy transition from vertical to horizontal. It's one of those great little ideas that makes it easier to fit this mini-tower under a desk or in an entertainment center.

PSN down for the first time in 2016

If you’re trying to login to PSN and are unable to, it’s not just you.
It appears that Sony is suffering its first PSN outage of 2016 on Monday. Currently the service appears down around most of the world and the company isn’t releasing detailed information at this time other than they are working on it.

A quick check of the Network Service Status page shows all aspects of PSN to currently be experiencing issues.
Unlike with several previous outages, there doesn’t appear to be any hacker group currently taking credit for the outage.
For the time being it looks like it’s just a waiting game to see how long it takes Sony to get the services up and running again.

Clash of Clans creators release Clash Royale

Clash of Clans has been one of the largest mobile games to date, but it wasn’t enough for the crack development team Supercell to rest on the laurels of their previous success.  Supercell launched a soft release of their new card-based, direct competition game Clash Royale.
Clash of Clans allured players with a number of effective gameplay components. First, there’s a sense of creativity that goes into designing a base. Strategy also plays a role, as it’s important to be able to assess and attack bases intelligently. Group dynamics got into the mix with the titular clans pitting themselves against each other, and the set-it-and-forget-it nature of much of the gameplay let even players with a busy schedule get in on the action.
What are your thoughts on Clash Royale? The primary complaint leveled at Clash of Clans is that some claim it falls in the “pay to win” camp of mobile gaming. Will the same criticisms be leveled at Clash Royale? Let us know in the comments below!

VR will push “a resurgence of high-end PCs in the home,” says Valve writer

Virtual Reality, at least the good kind, will be expensive. It will also require a quality gaming rig.
Valve writer Chet Faliszek thinks the introduction of this demanding new take on the gaming medium will push a lot of consumers to go bigger and better when it comes to PC hardware.
Here he is on Twitter, and he poses some interesting questions.

If, and that’s a big if, VR takes off like companies are hoping it will, we will absolutely see a flood of high-end PC users as they try and embrace the products fully. Faliszek is right on that point, but his perspective requires that VR succeeds.
As for the side-effects and opportunities? That’s really tough to consider, and I’m sure gaming companies are thinking both things over now as well. Will gamers demand more graphically intense experiences thanks to the new domination of high-end hardware? Will they be less willing to except bad ports and aging engines? I’m not so sure.
Whatever the case may be, if VR is a success, it’ll impact a huge chunk of the gaming world.
