Ubisoft may be priming the reveal cannon for a bit of a show during Nintendo’s Switch event next week. One insider with a really strong track record has it that Beyond Good & Evil 2 will make its appearance at the end of the Nintendo Switch reveal presentation.
This comes from Laura Kate Dale, an insider who’s been really on point over the last few months leading up to the Nintendo Switch’s announcement. She fired off a few tweets regarding Beyond Good & Evil 2 yesterday.
First, the sequel will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch for 12 months. After that, it’ll be a digital release on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox one.
The teaser for the game is finished, apparently, and on track to debut at the end of Nintendo’s Switch event on the 12th.
This Ubisoft and Nintendo partnership isn’t unprecedented
If we look back at the Wii U, only one third party company was really present for the launch in a big way. That was Ubisoft, and they seem more willing to take risks with Nintendo’s new efforts than other massive game makers. They had ZombiU at launch, and then we were supposed to see Rayman Legends exclusively on the Wii U.
That second game didn’t work out, mostly because the Wii U simply wasn’t selling at retail.
This partnership, based on these rumors, feels more concrete. Hopefully the Switch doesn’t go the way of the Wii U. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Beyond Good & Evil, and it’s a franchise I’d definitely take with me on the Switch.
