An employee at a GameStop in Germany snapped a picture of their system’s screen for what’s coming to the Nintendo Switch. The roster contains a specific software launch date, a bunch of games we knew or assumed would come and some particularly intriguing placeholder slots.
The release shared by all the software is March 19, 2017. If that’s true, then the Nintendo Switch will launch on March 19, 2017, in Germany, at least. A worldwide launch for the platform seems likely, so I imagine we’ll see it on the same day everywhere if this leak is legit.
The confirmed launch lineup isn’t all that surprising, though a few games are worth calling out. Zelda: Breath of the Wild is slated for day one, despite earlier rumors suggesting otherwise. We’ll also see Skyrim alongside the Switch, another release that’s been a question mark since the system’s unveiling.
The most intriguing listings to me are the placeholders
Then there are the placeholder slots. There are five of them, and we’re not sure what games will occupy those spaces. Lots of folks think the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. will get a Switch port, and that’s totally possible. What about the other unannounced games?
Pikmin 4? Maybe. Miyamoto said recently that the work on that game is close to done, so it could totally find its way onto the Nintendo Switch at launch. As a fan of Pikmin, I’d be pumped.
What mysterious games are you hoping to see in those placeholder slots? We’ll know if they crack the launch lineup this week when Nintendo holds the special Switch event. Stay tuned.
